Für die zweite Ausgabe des Internationalen Tanzfestivals  "n.o.w. dance saar" wird Marguerite Donlon in der Alten Feuerwache ein Stück choreografieren, inspiriert von Lebensgeschichte und Werk der mexikanischen Malerin Frida Kahlo (1907-1954). Der Titel des Stücks, "Casa Azul", bezieht sich auf das "Blaue Haus", das Geburtshaus Frida Kahlos, das zeitlebens für die mehrfach von Schicksalsschlägen getroffene Künstlerin einen wichtigen Bezugs- und Rückzugsort darstellte.

Die Ideen zu diesem Ballettabend schöpft Marguerite Donlon nicht nur aus dem vielgestaltigen künstlerischen Werk Frida Kahlos, sondern auch aus deren Tagebucheinträgen, die in ihrer Metaphorik zur Umsetzung in getanzte Bilder geradezu einladen. Mexikanische Live-Musik und die Arbeiten des Installationskünstlers Ingo Bracke werden den Abend abrunden.

Marguerite Donlon wurde in Irland geboren, tanzte beim English National Ballet sowie beim Ballett der Deutschen Oper Berlin und ist seit 2001 Ballettdirektorin am Saarländischen Staatstheater.
Ergänzend zu ihrer Arbeit in Saarbrücken hat Marguerite Donlon u.a. für das Nederlands Dans Theater II, das Stuttgarter Ballett und die Hubbard Street Dance Company Chicago Choreografien geschaffen.

For the second edition of the international dance festival "n.o.w. dance saar", Marguerite Donlon will create for the Alte Feuerwache, a piece inspired by the life and work of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo (1907-1954). The title of the piece, "Casa Azul", relates to the "blue house", the house where Frida Kahlo was born, which was an important place of retreat into private life for the artist, who was hit by several blows of fate throughout her life.

Marguerite Donlon draws her ideas for this ballet evening not only from the multi-shaped artistic work of Frida Kahlo, but also from her journal entries, which in their imagery virtually call for a translation into dancing pictures. Mexican live-music and the works of the architectural design artist Ingo Bracke will complete the evening.

Marguerite Donlon was born in Ireland and danced with the English National Ballet as well as with the Ballett der Deutschen Oper Berlin. She has been director of the ballet at the Saarländischen Staatstheater since 2001.
In addition to her work in Saarbrücken, Marguerite Donlon created pieces for the Nederlands Dans Theater II, the Stuttgarter Ballett and the Hubbard Street Dance Company, Chicago.
